Stratford-Upon-Avon is a beautiful town for sightseers to stroll around taking in the history of historic Stratford whilst browsing around the historic houses that are connected with the life of William Shakespeare. For those seeking to understand the history behind the sights there are daily guided walks that will point out less obvious attractions and give insight into Shakespeare's life. Failing that town maps are readily available from vending machines and indicate all the sites of interest.

If you prefer to get out and enjoy the countryside a bit more away from the crowds there are several walks in the surrounding countryside that will appeal without having to stray to far from the town itself. Below is a list of places we think are worth a look:

I'm sure it has an official title but this little piece of tranquillity is a real treat for escaping the crowds. It is behind Nash's House (New Place) and is free to get in (Hurrah!). It may not be Kew Garden but after pushing your way through the bustling streets in search of somewhere to eat your pasty it will come as a welcome bit if calm. It's really nicely laid out and there are several statu…

The final resting place of the afore mentioned Mr Shakespeare and also a beautiful church in a really stunning location on the banks of the Avon it really is worth a visit. It has a lovely pathway lined with tree's taking you up to the entrance and I am told it would be a great place to get married. But don't let that put you off!

The Greenway

This is just outside of town and probably not on most tourists list of things to visit but it is well worth having a stroll down if you are feeling a little bloated from all those cream teas. There is a cafe in an old railway carriage halfway…
